Film Photography never ceases to fascinate me.
There is something magical in carrying a weathered Rolleiflex, or a mint Zeiss with a shaky reputation.
Maybe it’s the stories that I’ll never know.
What stories could this camera tell? What pictures did it take?
Perhaps more tantalizing- who owned this?
The mind has a curious way of running wild to fill these gaps, to fuel imagination.
What’s ironic is I use film to escape, to hide away from today’s stressors, if only for a few hours.
But I'm always in plain sight. People always pick up that I don’t have an iPhone or something else ubiquitous in my hand.
No matter how discreet I am, people always notice; always.
Oddly enough- my escape is theirs too. Film encourages people to break the barriers our mobile devices create.
Once, I even had a gentleman scream across the street “YO- Is that a Rollei?!”
Bet you haven’t had that happen with an iPhone….
……..But I digress…….
This little composite gallery and digital journey is the culmination of years of practice, frustration, and genuine love of film.
My hope is that you can escape with me, and enjoy this little project of mine.
THE BRIGHTMARSH PROJECT.
